Zardosi work by Swapna Komarraju

Description:

Method of doing :The process of doing Zardozi embroidery starts with the craftsmen sitting cross-legged around the Addaa, the wooden framework, with their tools. And the second step in the process is to trace out the design on the cloth, if possible fabrics like silk, satin, velvet, etc. The fabric is then stretched over the wooden frame and the embroidery work begins. Needle is used to pull out each zardozi element and then, it is integrated into the basic design by pushing the needle into the fabric.

Cross Stich by Suneetha Sistla

Description:

This work is called cross stitch. all the stitches are of crosses and i have used 85 different shades of colors in it and it is a wall hanging for my sons bedroom.

Stone Work by Pushpa Gadde

I used :

- Colored stones with different shapes all over the sari
- Devadas tikkis on the zari border of the sari. They are not very clearly visible in the photo but they look like glitter when the sari is worn on.
- I first had the chain stitch done(not at all visible) with gold thread on the sari and stitched the stones and tikkis later.

Table cloth that was on for cake ..I made it ...My own creativity
Two places loo embroidery chessa and I used chain and Steam stiches . It took about 2 weeks to this beacuse I was Working Mom.
Also I stiched happy Birthday and Sanvi with some kind of color beads which are flower shape. It took almost 3-5 months to this part . This took more time beacuse the beads are very small , have to do one by one .
And all over the cloth I used Stars and flower chips . I was on vacation before Sanvi B'day . So did that in one week .
Also Bottom of cloth I add hanging beads ...I hand Stiched them ...

Material :- gold color zaree thread,gold color zardosi spring,gold color chips,white beedsgoldcolor zaree thread to design anta chain stich chesanu,then zardosi spring teesukuni required shape lo cut chesi aa flowers anne stitch chesanu,next aa small leaves lo beads,chips anne stitch chesanu,we have to use a different kind of needle from our regular needle for the zardosi spring,adi sanna ga koncham podavu ga untudi, for me it took 2 months to complete this work

Peacock Wall Hanging by Usha Rao

Description :

This a wall display picture of a Peacock on a branch, embroidered on a piece of black cotton fabric. I got the fabric framed once I finished the embroidery. I purchased a kit at Michaels, which provided me the fabric with the design on it, all the threads, wool yarn and needles required for the embroidery, and an instructions booklet for the embroidery. Instructions booklet included what colors to use for flowers, branches, leaves, peacock, etc and, description of all the stitches used and step by step instructions on how to do each type of stitch. The stitches used are filling, knot stitch, chain stitch, and couple of other stitches. I don’t remember what those are called. For flowers, leaves, branches and body of the peacock I used wool yarn and thread for the feathers of the peacock. Dimensions of the fabric, where the work is done is 9 1/2 "w X 18" h and the dimensions after framing are 15" X 23". I used a frame to do the stitching as it was easy to stitch with a frame around the fabric and it wasn’t provided in the kit. I took my own time and finished the embroidery in a span of one year.

Anchor Stich by Kalpana Hemant

Description :

Material Needed - Printed canvas to embroider (Mattie Cloth Type).
Sufficient amount of Skeins of Anchor cotton or silk embroidery thread.
Tapestry needle.

Technique - Flatten the canvas without any creases using simple long stitches throughout. Fill in the desired colored strands through the printed design.
Work the stitches vertically from one hole to another.
To finish stitching, tie a knot on the back side and snip off.
Once finished turn the canvas and press with an iron on the back side.
Get it framed as desired.

Tips - Stitch the darker colors first and then transition to the lighter areas.
See that you avoid dust and dirt when handling the cloth.
Do not stitch continuously and take adequate breaks in between.
